About the role
We are looking for a highly skilled Solution Architect & Engineering Manager to drive the architecture and technical leadership of our Payment Orchestration Platform. In this role, you will be responsible for designing scalable and secure systems, leading a team of engineers, and ensuring best practices in software development and security compliance.
About the project
We are developing a next-generation Payment Orchestration Platform that optimizes transaction processing, enhances operational efficiency, and delivers a seamless user experience. The platform integrates with various payment gateways, supports fraud prevention mechanisms, and ensures compliance with PCI DSS and other financial regulations.
Team
The team is being built from scratch to support a new client and a high-impact project. The initial plan is to form a full-scale team consisting of 4 backend engineers, 1 frontend engineer, 1 QA, 1 Business Analyst (BA), and 1 Solution Architect (SA). As the project scales, the goal is to expand to two full-scale teams, bringing the total team size to 15 specialists. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly established team, shaping the architecture, processes, and best practices from the ground up.

As a qualified expert You will
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure backend services for the Payment Orchestration Platform.
- Architect and implement robust software solutions following best practices and industry standards.
- Integrate with 3DS authentication services to ensure secure transaction processing.
- Implement payment tokenization solutions.
- Develop a custom Risk Engine, allowing merchants to configure risk rules dynamically.
- Automate merchant onboarding workflows, ensuring seamless integration and compliance.
- Work with payment processing APIs, integrating with various Payment Gateways to support diverse payment flows.
- Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and compliance with PCI DSS, GDPR, and other financial regulations.
- Lead the development team, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews.
- Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
We’re looking for you if you have
- 7+ years of software development experience, with at least 3+ years in a lead or architect role.
- Strong expertise in Java or Kotlin.
- Proven experience in developing payment processing or fraud prevention systems.
- Deep knowledge of PCI DSS compliance and financial data security regulations.
- Experience in designing microservices architecture, event-driven systems, WebSockets, and distributed applications.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, Cognito).
- Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases – PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of API security, OAuth, JWT, and encryption standards.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make architectural decisions that align with business needs.
- Ability to lead and mentor development teams, fostering an environment of innovation and technical excellence.
- Experience with 3DS authentication, payment tokenization, and Visa APIs.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
- Languages: English — upper-intermediate (B2+), Ukrainian — fluent (spoken and written).
