Now we are looking for a Middle Java Engineer for PitchBook.

About the role

PitchBook is an analytical platform for investment professionals, it collects information from various sources and presents it in a convenient way for users. The PitchBook platform is very useful for almost everyone who operates on the financial market — for start-ups and large corporations, for venture capital and private equity firms, for investment banks and market analytics, and many others. The engineering team is continuously growing and improving the technical landscape. For instance, this year we’ve already finished migration to k8s for testing environments and production. From a processes perspective, we’ve completed the transformation to Team topologies and Scrum-based Agile.

Team

Lead, 3 BE, 1 FE, 2 QA

Technical stack

Java 17/21, Spring Boot (MVC, JDBC, Security). Postgres, Docker, Prometheus, K8s, Elastic.

Work environment

Work schedule: 8 hours per working day with a flexible schedule, the regular team working hours 10:30-19:30 (8 hours + 1 hour for lunch) Team timezone: Ukraine Team (GMT+2); Client timezone: Seattle, WA, USA (GMT-7) Meetings involvement: Required to participate in SCRUM events inside the team; Demo for clients

As a qualified expert, You will:

  • Help architect, design, and develop complex, large-scale systems.
  • Identify opportunities to adopt innovative technologies.
  • Create architectures and diagrams that describe them.
  • Work on and provide guidance for microservice REST API design.
  • Write key algorithms to maximize scalability and reliability.
  • Write code and unit tests.
  • Conduct code reviews.
  • Diagnose complex problems involving multiple systems and technologies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to a team of talented software engineers.
  • Be an example of engineering excellence.

We’re looking for you if you have:

  • 4+ years of experience in web software development
  • Strong knowledge of Java Core, Java 17/Java 21
  • Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot 2/3
  • Good knowledge of microservices concepts
  • Strong knowledge of SQL
  • Good OOP skills
  • Experience with Message Brokers – Kafka
  • English Upper-Intermediate (B2)

Would be a plus:

  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Work on the development of a Self-Service practice approach
