About the role:
We are looking for a Junior+ Java/Kotlin Backend Engineer who is eager to learn and ready to take ownership of tasks. You will work on real product features together with experienced developers, write clean and testable code, and support APIs, databases, and integrations. You’ll be part of a structured Scrum team and will take part in daily standups, sprint planning, and code reviews. We expect you to ask questions, explore how things work, and suggest ideas when you see something that can be improved.
Team Structure:
The team is being built from scratch to support a new client and a high-impact project. The initial plan is to form a full-scale team consisting of 4 backend engineers, 1 frontend engineer, 1 QA, 1 Business Analyst (BA), and 1 Solution Architect (SA). As the project scales, the goal is to expand to two full-scale teams, bringing the total team size to 15 specialists. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newly established team, shaping the architecture, processes, and best practices from the ground up.
You’ll work with the following stack:
Java / Kotlin, Spring Boot, Spring Security, PostgreSQL, Kafka, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes.
Schedule:
Flexible, with occasional required meetings. Working hours – standard businesses hours CET timezone
As a qualified expert, You will:
- Develop and maintain the backend of applications using Java/Kotlin.
- Work with Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
- Design and optimize RESTful APIs.
- Work with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
- Participate in code reviews and improve software quality.
- Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and QA engineers.
We’re looking for you if you have:
- 1+ years in backend development (Java/Kotlin) working with microservices in e-commerce, fintech, telecom, or healthtech.
- At least one real production project with a visible impact.
- Ownership of End-to-End feature delivery through the full development cycle.
- Experience with Spring Boot (Spring Data, Spring Security, Spring MVC).
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
- Experience working in structured Scrum teams, understanding ceremonies, roles, and goals.
- Basic knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes is a plus.
- Experience with Git and version control systems.
- English Upper-Intermediate.
