We are looking for a Middle Java Engineer to join us as part of our team.

About the role

PitchBook is a financial data and software provider, with headquarters in Seattle and offices in London, New York, San Francisco, and Singapore. We provide comprehensive data on the private and public capital markets (including Venture Capital, Private Equity, and M&A) to help professionals discover and execute opportunities with confidence. Worldwide usage includes investment banks, private equity and venture capital firms, corporate development teams, and service providers. Key Features of PitchBook: Advanced Search: Granular filtering for companies, deals, investors, and funds. Market Analysis: Data visualisation and industry trends. Company Profiles: Deep insights into financials, valuations, and team structures. Workflow Integration: Tools to export data directly to Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems. Mobile & Chrome Access: Data accessibility on the go.

The team is responsible for developing and improving internal tools and platforms that enable the creation, updating, and support of data feeds. The work focuses on PitchBook data extraction, transformation, and delivery in various formats to different cloud platforms. The project is currently in active development.

Work Environment

Flexible schedule with requirements to participate in all team’s events. Time zone is Europe/Kyiv. Scrum workflow (2 weeks sprints) with Daily Scrum, Refinement, Demo, Planning and Retro sessions.

As a qualified expert You will

  • Write well-designed, testable code
  • Collaboration in team and other teams to meet sprint’s goal
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
  • Comply with project plans and industry/company/team standards
  • Be a domain expert in some parts of the product/services in ownership

We’re looking for you if you have

  • 3+ years of experience in Java development
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns, SOLID, KISS
  • Strong understanding of SDLC
  • Experience with Spring or Spring Boot frameworks
  • Familiarity with RESTful API design and development
  • Proficiency in working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) for container orchestration
  • Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka
  • Proficient in developing unit, API, and integration tests; able to independently ensure product quality
  • Active user of AI tools to enhance productivity, including GitHub Copilot, Roo Code, AI Agents, MCP servers, etc.
  • Knowledge of version control systems, such as Git
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
