We are looking for a Middle Java Engineer to join us as part of our team.
About the role
This is a market research platform that connects users with paid survey opportunities, allowing them to earn digital rewards or cash by sharing their opinions. The platform integrates with multiple survey providers, giving users access to a wide range of questionnaires.
The system collects and analyzes various types of data (demographics, socio-economic status, etc.), enabling brands and research companies to obtain high-quality, relevant insights.
A strong focus is placed on anti-fraud mechanisms: the platform implements numerous rules and checks to detect suspicious activity, prevent abuse, and ensure the integrity and reliability of collected data.

Work Environment
Work happens primarily on Kyiv time (UTC+2/3). The team works in a flexible Kanban setup with shifting weekly priorities. Client collaboration includes occasional ad-hoc calls in a Canadian time zone, usually around 7-8 PM Kyiv time, focused on aligning requirements, resolving blockers or push to prod.
As a qualified expert You will
- Implement new features and maintain existing functionality in Java and Kotlin services.
- Handle a large volume of bug-fixing and support tasks, ensuring stability in a live production environment.
- Integrate 3rd-party service providers via APIs, including mapping, validation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Implement and support reporting-related features and data flows.
- Collaborate with the cross-functional team, using Kanban, adjusting to shifting priorities during the week.
- Participate in code reviews and propose technical improvements.
- Communicate with team members primarily in English.
We’re looking for you if you have
- Strong proficiency in Java (Java 8+).
- Hands-on experience with Spring and Spring Boot in production systems.
- Strong MySQL/SQL Knowledge
- Practical experience with REST API development and consumption.
- Understanding of microservices patterns and CI/CD practices.
- Working knowledge of Kotlin or willingness to maintain Kotlin components already in production.
- Experience with relational databases and ORM frameworks (Hibernate/JPA).
- Ability to work with and troubleshoot distributed systems hosted on Reflected Networks (or similar PaaS hosting environments).
- Familiarity with OOP, SOLID, clean code practices, and debugging complex production issues.
- Basic Unix/Linux navigation (SSH, grep, tail, file editing, etc)
- Experience with debugging using JConsole would be a plus
- Experience with Cloudflare would be a plus
- Experience in React would be a plus
- Familiarity with Knockout is an advantage
