We are looking for a Middle Java Engineer to join us as part of our team.

PitchBook is a financial data and software company with offices in London, New York, San Francisco and Seattle. Serving clients in 19 languages, we provide thousands of global business professionals with comprehensive data on the private and public markets to help them discover and execute opportunities with confidence. In this role, you will join the team that imports additional data into the company’s datasets, enabling clients to better assess the private company’s effectiveness, status, and strategy using sets of non-financial data. Additionally, the team is responsible for importing and integrating non-financial additional data into the company’s overall datasets.

The team will work on activities related to technical debt resolution and new features. The team will also focus on technological initiatives to meet service needs for high availability. You will work on building new service functionality and improving or optimizing a large, complex, actively used application.

Team: 2 BE, 2 QA, 1 FE

Technical stack:  Java 17+, k8s, Spring/SpringBoot, Hibernate, OpenAPI, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Kafka

Processes: Scrum-based Agile in Stream-Aligned Teams (Team Topologies)

Schedule: Flexible (with a need to attend team meetings).

As a qualified expert, You will:

  • Building a business logic for the service
  • Write unit/integration/performance/e2e tests for your own code
  • Documenting own services/algorithms/functionality
  • Participating in making technical decisions in the team, code reviews
  • Implementing reliable solutions and integrations
  • Collaborate in a distributed team
  • Taking services (parts of the domain) in ownership

We’re looking for you if you have:

  • 3+ years of experience in Java software development
  • Strong knowledge of Java Core, Java 11/Java 17
  • Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot
  • Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL or Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with Message Brokers (RabbitMQ, Kafka)

Would be a plus:

  • Experience with ElasticSearch or Lucene
  • Experience with OpenAPI
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with Hibernate
  • Should be familiar with and follow SOLID and KISS principles
  • Know and be able to use design patterns.
